Part 3: Understanding Complexity


Based on all of your research to identify problems for your organization perform the following exercises: 

Continue to define the central problem facing your organization. State a top level problem that you think is important to figuring out what your organization needs to do. Use this statement to complete the do the following exercises: 

Appreciation 
Write three statements about your organization. One statement should comment on the organizations product or service. One statement should comment on the employees or members of the organization. One statement should comment on the customers or primary external audience of the organization. For each statement, perform an appreciation exercise by asking “So what?” at least four times.
 
Drill-Down 
State a key problem that you feel your organization must solve. Drill down through the problem until you have mapped out at least 3 levels of inquiry. 

Cause & Effect 
Using your original problem statement or a new problem statement that was generated after the drill-down exercise, create one cause and effect diagram.
